SHADE ISLINGTON
Building climate resilience within the community
Shade Islington is a competition created for all pupils in secondary schools across Islington. Designed to encourage the next generation to think constructively and imaginatively about the climate crisis, students will investigate what they can do to assist vulnerable populations in their community.
How?
Students will create innovative adaptation strategies and thought pieces using a solution-based approach through participatory workshops led by Shade the UK. Students will imagine how Islington could adapt to a hotter climate following either Brief 1 or Brief 2.
PROJECT
BRIEFS
Reimagine a school that can adapt to hot weather, be accessible and safe for vulnerable groups in the summer, or serve as a shelter and a hub for the community.
Use your creativity to help protect or tell the story of how we can support vulnerable people during heatwaves. How can your local parks and streets be adapted to create safe, accessible, and shaded spaces for vulnerable people?
